Day 3 we went to Nara. Blake has been waiting for this day since we moved to Japan in September. He was in heaven! He loves animals and to be able to walk around and pet the deer was so special for him. Riley and Grant were not impressed. Unfortunately I didn’t realize this was the Vernal Equinox in Japan and many people were off work. Also apparently they only sell a limited amount of the deer biscuits each day and had run out by the time we got there. So we didn’t get to feed them or really see them bow. But they were much calmer then we expected because they knew we didn’t have food. Blake was able to walk up to them and pet them. It was so fun to watch them randomly cross the road and stop traffic. And at lunch we watched them stealing food from people. It is such a fun atmosphere. We also went into the Todai-ji Temple and saw the giant Buddha. It was a small fee to enter, but a really cool thing to see. Blake took most of the deer pictures all by himself!
